Skin Care and Beauty

Beauty care is one of the problems that most women (and men) of all ages face. Beauty, or the lack of it, is pretty much a state of mind. . .well almost. There are beauty tips for Hair Styles, Nails, Skin Care, Body and Shape, Weight Loss, Exercise, Fashion and Style, Inner Beauty and more.Let's talk about inner beauty care. True beauty begins from the inside out. Outer beauty will only appear when you’ve practiced beauty within.Knowing how and what to eat, can make a huge difference in how you feel. Improper eating habits can cause depression, overweight, illness and an overall lethargy.Change your eating and exercising habits. You can do this. Do not try to change everything at once, unless you are just one of those rare individuals that can do that.

In today's world with competition and perfection being the most essential thing, it is imperative to look good. Make-up will help you to some extent but what is most important is natural beauty and a glowing skin. The major culprits that ruin and play havoc on our skin are ultraviolet rays, pollution and stress to some extent. However the most important thing for a glowing and a fresh look and skin is regular exercise and a balanced diet. However at the same time you also need to give your skin a little time for its care and here are a few tips for your skin care regime.

Nosebleeds in children

What causes nosebleeds?

A nose starts to bleed when one of the small veins in its lining bursts. This is usually caused by something completely harmless, such as the child picking their nose, blowing it too hard or having their nose knocked while playing.
Another reason could be that the child has pushed something inside their nose.

How should nosebleeds be treated?

A nosebleed can be a very traumatic event for the child. They will often be scared and think something is seriously wrong with them because there is so much blood. So it is important that the parent stays calm. They should cuddle the child and say something reassuring, like, 'It's OK, let's sit down, then you'll be fine. I'm here and I'll make sure you're OK.'
  • When the child is sitting down, hold their nostrils with your fingers, a handkerchief or a facecloth.
  • Pinch the lower, soft part of the nose between the thumb and forefinger.
  • The grip should be firm and the pressure on the nose steady.
  • Hold the child's nose for 10 minutes. Look at a watch so you are sure 10 minutes have passed before letting go.
  • If the child is old enough, teach them how and where to hold their own nose.
  • If in doubt, have the doctor or health visitor show you how to hold the nose.
  • It may be a good idea to read a story or watch television while waiting, to divert the child's attention.
  • After the nosebleed has stopped, the child should not play any rough games for a couple of hours to prevent the nosebleed starting again.
  • Tell the child not to pick, rub or blow their nose for a couple of days.
  • If the bleeding continues, try the same procedure once more.
  • If the bleeding doesn't stop, call the doctor.

Why does holding the nose help?

Holding the nose presses directly on the bleeding vein. This stops the bleeding and the blood will then coagulate or thicken into a scab.

Why should the child sit down?

Bleeding will stop faster if the child is sitting instead of lying down. It used to be recommended that a person with a nosebleed should lie down, but that makes the blood pressure in the head increase.
When the blood pressure goes up, more blood is pumped through the veins, which will make the nose bleed more and the nosebleed harder to stop.
Also if you lie back, blood will run down your throat. If the child swallows a lot of blood, they will vomit.

Why do some children get nosebleeds more often than others?

Some children have veins that are closer to the mucous membrane of their nose than other children. Because the veins are very close to the skin, they are more likely to burst when the child picks, blows or rubs their nose, or plays rough games.
Some children pick their nose a lot so they too are more likely to get nosebleeds. Cut the child's nails frequently. A little petroleum jelly applied on the inner side of the nose can also soften scabs.
If the child often gets nosebleeds, it may be a good idea to have a doctor examine them.
If the nosebleeds are caused by a vein that is very close to the skin, they can be prevented by cauterising the front of the nose. This is a simple procedure that can be carried out in the GP's surgery or hospital clinic.

How should you remove a foreign body from a child's nose?

If the child has put a foreign body up their nose, let a doctor remove it. Children are capable of putting the most surprising objects up their noses. It is best to have the doctor remove the object to avoid the risk of pushing it up further.

Are nosebleeds dangerous?

If the child often gets nosebleeds, or nosebleeds that are hard to stop, have a doctor examine the child. Children do not come to any serious harm from nosebleeds. Rarely, the bleeding may be due to a problem that prevents the child's blood clotting properly. This can be confirmed by a blood test.

When should the doctor be called in the case of nosebleed?

  • If there's a chance the child's nose may be broken.
  • If the bleeding can't be stopped (how to stop a nosebleed is described above).
  • If the child frequently gets nosebleeds that take more than 15 minutes to stop.
  • If the child has trouble breathing.
  • If the child is bleeding elsewhere, for example from their ears or gums.
  • If the child has a foreign body stuck up their nose.

Fun Teen Beauty Secrets**

Teen Girls

Here are some beauty secrets that we wish we had known when we were teens! We want to share them with you so that you don't make the same mistakes that we did!

Dump the Bottle of Foundation
First, we wish we had the same youthful skin that teens do. Unfortunately, most teens hide their fresh, young and glowing skin beneath layers of foundation. Stop doing that right now! Skip the foundation and show off your wrinkle-less beauty. If you have zits and spots, use a concealer by all means. Use a powder or, at most, a tinted moisturiser. Remember, foundation is for women aged 30+ to help them look as young as you!

Golden Rule: One is Always Nude
Every time we see an overly made-up teen we groan inwardly. When will they understand that less is always more? When you avoid using foundation, don't go overboard with the lipstick or the eye make-up. Remember the golden rule: one is always nude. If you use a red lipstick, your eyes should be without eyeliner and vice versa. If you are going to use eye shadow with your eyeliner, then just pat a bit of gloss on your lips. Always allow one part of your face to become the centre of attention.

Use Concealers Cleverly
Pat it in, and avoid vigorously rubbing a concealer into your skin. If you want to hide a pimple, apply it directly on top of the zit. That way, you won't aggravate the zit further and you will come away with more natural looking skin. And of course, it goes without saying that you should only use a concealer if you need to.

Hair Wear
We think that natural is hot, but teens tend to think otherwise. So if you want to lighten your hair, just go one shade lighter, or two at most, but no more than that. We see teens emptying whole tubes of hair colour, thinking they will look cooler, but what they don't realise is that they actually end up looking like clowns.

Always get your hair cut in layers, which are so in and which make unruly hair look salon fresh and give life to limp hair.

Safe and Natural Weight Loss Tips

I have read this tips from Ayurveda (the ancient Indian science of health and healing) and I found some effective tips that might also helpful for you. :D

1. Ayurvedic Diet for Weight Loss

Obviously an anti-kapha diet is the place to start when looking to lose weight. This means eating lots of fruits, vegetables, spicy foods and whole grains.

2. Exercise for Weight Loss:

The following Ayurvedic guidelines should be followed for proper exercise with regard to weight loss
:

* More Exercise the Better: Kapha\’s qualities of fixed, dull, heavy, soft and cold are all negated via exercise. In other words, the more exercise you do the more you reduce Kapha and therefore fat in your body.

* Exercise Without Excessive Strain: According to Ayurveda, Kapha individuals need the most vigorous exercise, but at the same time, the exercise should never be extreme. Find a good balance between doing too little and over doing it. Breaking a nice sweat is good, but being totally breathless is probably too much.

* Be Consistent: A Kapha body type has a propensity towards weight gain so you need to make exercise a daily part of you life. The hardest part will be to get the exercise program underway. Once this is done Kapha people tend to be very determined and steady, so they will be able to adhere to it long term. Getting started though is another matter for Kapha types and usually requires shock treatment. In the spirit of shock treatment, understand that by NOT exercising and NOT losing the weight you are putting your longevity and quality of life at risk. Enough said, start today!

* Yoga for Weight Loss: Yoga offers an excellent way to include holistic exercises into your fitness program. These exercises will not just help you lose weight, but will also help your overall health and well-being.

* Post Exercise Diet: After exercises do not drink cold liquids. This period is key as you are trying to increase the metabolic fire in your cells so they burn more calories and drinking cold liquids at this time will negate this important benefit which exercise bestows.

3. Hard Physical Work to Burn Calories:

According to Ayurveda reduction of Kapha is promoted by living a physical, active lifestyle. In today\’s age of technology, computers, TVs, TiVO, internet, etc, manual labor is getting more rare for people to do. So you need to consciously incorporate physical work into your life. Whether that be mowing the lawn, tending to the garden or shoveling snow, it is important to not live a sedentary live of watching TV and eating twinkies.

4. Massage Therapy to Reduce Fat:

There are many treatment modalities in Ayurveda of which massage is highly recommended. In the context of weight loss and reducing Kapha, strong massage with light oils such as mustard or flaxseed is helpful.

5. Sleep Guidelines for Weight Loss:

No napping or going to bed early. If you want to reduce Kapha and weight remember you burn more calories when you are awake and being active, than when you are happily snuggled under the blanket.

The above recommendations will surely help you with your weight loss goals and in addition to helping you get slim, they will also make you more healthy and fit.
